Some things in life are both joyful and yet painful. One such bittersweet event at the university college of medicine This past month was the farewell party of Professor Dr Nizam Khatoon.
Madam joined the university as a professor in 2004 after serving in the public sector for over 20 years both nationally and internationally. She was instrumental for the establishment and development of the lab and department of pathology and for its first ever recognition from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. But more importantly, every doctor graduating from UCM first batch to 2019 has passed through her hands.
In her 15 years devoted to UCM It is not just the students but her colleagues who have an immense amount of love and respect for her. Madam Nizam was invited after her retirement to stay on as Professor Emeritus the post from which she has retired this year.
Madam Mehvish presented Prof Nizam with a bouquet and a token of their appreciation. Following the cake cutting all faculty was invited to a tea.
A plaque honoring the “5475 days of service” that Dr. Nizam had devoted to UOL was unveiled and is now displayed in the admin office of UCM.
